Caprice Choir (K-1st grades)

Mondays 4:30-5:15  or 5:15-6:00 pm.

Areas of Focus:

1.High and low pitches               5.Pitch Matching

2.Fast and slow                           6.Following a conductor

3.Loud and soft                           7.Rhythm and rhythmic notation

4.Steady beat                              8.Concert etiquette

These skills are taught with folk songs and singing activities.  We will also work on performance songs that we will sing in 2 concerts, one at Christmas time and one in the Spring.  There may be other choir activities during the year that the children will participate in. We are looking forward to a wonderful year and hope you will join us in this musical journey!

*Parents please note that changes to calendar or specific information for Caprice choir will be e-mailed.  Please check your e-mail weekly for any changes concerning Caprice choir. If you do not have e-mail, please notify the instructors and you will receive a note. 

General calendar for Caprice: (Subject to change)

August

30th- Classes begin

September

6th- No Classes, Labor Day

20th- Regular classes/Parent Day

Parents may come and visit class during these times:

Caprice A: 4:30-4:45  Caprice B:  5:30-5:45

October

6th- Regular classes

13th- Regular classes

18th- Combined parade rehearsal 5:00-6:00  (meet in our regular classroom)

Saturday 23rd-  USU Homecoming Parade

Please meet in the JoAnns parking lot at 9:30 am. (190 S. Main)  Wear your red choir polo or a red shirt and jeans.  Pick-up after parade is in the Smiths Marketplace parking lot. (750 N. Main)

December

6th- Combined Caprice classes 5:00-6:00

15th-Combined Choir rehearsal 4:30-5:30

16th-Season's Greetings Concert 7 PM Kent Concert Hall

*Classes begin again on Monday, January 3rd

  • Marianne Sidwell-Caprice Choir Co-Director
Marianne is accomplished on flute, guitar and dulcimer and she enjoys performing and composing. She has a B.A. from Utah State University and has done some graduate work in Kodaly Music Education. She is also a music specialist for Utah Festival Opera’s Education Program.
