Cadet Choir  (Ages 8-10)


Non-auditioned advanced beginning level choir.
Tuesdays 5:10-6:00 p.m. 

Edith Bowen Laboratory School Room 134

For children to develop basic musical skills through the use of folksongs, singing games, playing Orff instruments, and singing traditional tunes. Emphasis is placed on developing the singing voice, sight-singing, pitched and rhythmic composition, musical terminology, singing as a group, and rehearsal technique and procedure.

SAFETY –  children should use the restrooms and get drinks before they come to choir.  They will only be allowed to leave class in case of an emergency and then only with a buddy.  No playing in the halls.  Please be careful of furniture in hallways. 

Please drop off and pick up your child so they can be in class on time.   CCC cannot be  responsible for your child before or after class time.

  1. Respect other peoples’ space – children should keep hands etc. to themselves and when playing games should watch out for others

2. Respect the directors.  No talking while the director is talking. Follow directions quickly the first time.

3. No playing instruments or singing unless directed. 

4.  Respect other people’s feelings – speak kindly and respectfully to and about others.  

5. Respect room  - no sitting on stacked chairs or running behind piano/instruments. Treat instruments with care – play only as intended.  Sit on stools and chairs quietly.  If not respectful will lose use of instruments/seat for a time. No food, drink, gum or candy in class

 Kristine graduated from Utah State University in Vocal Performance.  She also attended Brigham Young University where she studies cello and was granted the first chair seat in Brigham Young's Symphony Orchestra and traveled with the orchestra to Europe.  She has studied voice with Bonnie Slade, Michael Ballam and Cindy Dewey.  She has song with the Utah State University Chamber Singers and has also performed with the Utah Festival Opera Company.  She has also studied music education with Dr. Jerry Jaccard and visiting experts from Hungary.  She will complete the Zoltan Kodaly Music Education Certification course in 2013.  She teaches voice, cello, group music literacy classes for teens and adults, and is a member of the Organization of American Kodaly Educators.

David graduated from Utah State University in Piano Pedagogy, and Elementary Education.  He also received his Kodaly Certification at Brigham Young University.  He is an active member of the Utah Music Teachers Association, teaches fourth grade at Heritage Elementary School and enjoys teaching piano.
