Cache Children’s
Choir offers sequential music instruction
where children experience the joy of singing in four choirs and a preschool
class. Although students can join at any level, each choir builds on skills
taught in previous choirs.
Cache Children’s Choir is supported in part by the Marie Eccles
Caine Foundation, Utah State Office of Education, the Utah Arts Council
and the
National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, DC, the Dell Loy Hansen
Charitable Trust, Cache County RAPZ grant, Logan City, and the Department
of Music at Utah State
University, Chairman Dr. Bruce Saperston.

Cache Children’s Choir is
a nonprofit organization that strives to:
• Prepare children for a lifetime of singing by providing quality
music training
• Develop the talent and self-esteem of children through guided
musical experiences
• Share music and information with the public to develop an educated
audience
• Foster the creation of new works for children’s voices
• Support music education in the public schools
FAQ:
WHO MAY JOIN?
Children from ages 3-15 years old. We
accept children regardless of experience (Cantate Choir
excepted). Enrollment is limited to a first come, first served basis.
WHAT ARE THE LEVELS and PROGRAMS?
Cantate Choir (Audition
Only). Ages 10-15
Advanced level treble choir. Auditions held in
May.
The Cantate Choir is CCC's 'performance choir'.
They sing a challenging repertoire including classical, folk, and contemporary
compositions encompassing three to four part harmonies and many different
languages.
We emphasize free and natural singing while developing healthy vocal
habits.
Using Solfege, the singers strengthen their sight singing, ear training,
pitch matching, and independent singing.
Mondays 4:30-6:00 p.m.
Wednesdays (sectionals)4:30-6:00 p.m.

Concert Choir. Grades 4-8.
Non-auditioned, intermediate level choir.
Students receive training in vocal technique through the study of folk
songs, classical, and contemporary music. They also learn sight-singing,
simple part singing, and receive training in improvisation through the
Orff-Schulwerk method. Concert Choir accepts about 6 performance opportunities
per year.

Cadet. Grades 2 & 3.
Non-auditioned advanced beginning level
choir.
A high level beginner choir that focuses
on developing the singing voice, sight singing, composition, singing as
a group, and rehearsal technique and procedures. Instructors use folk
songs, singing games, and traditional pieces. Some performance opportunities.
M 4:30-5:30pm. or 5:00-6:00pm.

Hadfield
Caprice Choir. Grades K-1
Non-auditioned beginning choir.
Caprice choir teaches beginning music skills including
beat competence, in-tune singing, and rhythmic notation. This class enjoys
many singing games and folk songs.
Mondays 4:30-5:15 p.m. or 5:15-6:00 p.m.
Co-Directed by Marianne Sidwell and Genet
Brown.
Cadenza Choir. Ages 3-5 years.
Non-auditioned music introduction class.
Cadenza choir helps preschoolers find
their singing voice and employs movement skills, turn-taking, and direction
following. This class enjoys many singing games and folk songs.
Two annual performances.
Mondays 10:00-10:45 am., 11:00-11:45 am.

Jensen
Summer Camp. Ages 5-11
Fun week-long camp with a different
theme every year.
Children participate with others their
age in singing games, folk arts, and age-appropriate music learning. Camp
culminates with a performance for families and friends.
Held the third week of July in the USU Chase Fine Arts Center.
Co-directed by Lori Roberts and Kathryn Hadfield,
with other trained faculty.
Vocal Performance
Camp. Ages 12-18
Annual week-long camp to develop your voice and expand your abilities.
Small group-voice classes, sight-singing training, diction, Orff, dance/movement,
musical theatre training, and master classes taught by guest directors.
Held in August in the USU Fine Arts Center.
Directed by Bonnie Slade with many other trained faculty
and presenters.
WHERE ARE THE CLASSES HELD?
All classes(except Cadenza) are held in the Chase Fine Arts Center on
the Utah State University Campus. Please check your printed schedule or
contact your director for details. Cadenza is held at the Bullen Center
(in the front of the Ellen Eccles Theatre) on Main St., Logan, Utah
WHERE AND WHEN CAN I REGISTER?
Registration is held in August and January at
Utah State University in the Fine Arts Center, Kent Concert Hall lobby.
IS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE?
Tuition assistance is available for children
in need. We also offer multiple sibling discounts.
WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN AND DO?
Children will learn:
• Broad exposure to music fundamentals
• Introduction to formal choral training
Individual vocal development
Sight singing and beat training
Learn to sing in an ensemble
Broad exposure to a variety
of choral music and composers
• Beat development, through movement and use of instruments
• Performance etiquette
WILL MY CHILD TRAVEL OR TOUR ?
The Cantate Choir periodically travels for concerts
and competitions within and outside of Utah. The Concert Choir may
schedule one or two performances outside the valley.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
Cache Children’s Choir has a parent board
made up of dedicated volunteers who handle many of the responsibilities
of running the choirs. They meet monthly to coordinate their efforts which
include fundraising, publicity, hospitality, uniforms, attendance, awards,
newsletters, and collecting choir histories. To get involved with the
parent board, call Melody Francis at 752-6260.
IS THE FACULTY QUALIFIED?
Cache Children’s Choir prides itself on
the quality of its faculty. Our faculty has extensive musical training
in Kodaly methods, Orff-Schulwerk, choral conducting, children’s
music education, vocal performance, and pedagogy. All of our staff are
university graduates and several are certified public school teachers.
We also have some accomplished musicians on our faculty, who love to share
their talents with the children.

Staff and Faculty Bios:
Bonnie Slade-Concert Choir Director/Vocal
Performance Camp Director
Mrs. Slade has been associated with C.C.C. since
1989. Under
her direction the choir grew from 9 singers to over 200 children and 6
divisions. Although she is best known for her direction of the Cantate
Choir, Mrs. Slade is also recognized as a fine singer and teacher. Her
voice
students have received notoriety in Utah. She taught voice and directed
choirs for Utah State University Music Department for 19 years.
Leslie Timmons-Education Coordinator
Leslie teaches the Flute Studio and Elementary
Education courses at Utah State
University. She also directs teacher-training workshops in Orff- Schulwerk.
She performs with the flute/clarinet duo ‘Airfare’ and the
faculty woodwind quintet ‘Logan Canyon Winds’.
Jill DeVilbiss-Cantate
Choir Director
Jill has degrees from Utah State University in
Vocal Performance and Pedagogy, and Choral Education. She has completed
all three levels of the Kodaly Course for Children’s Music and
all three levels of Orff Musicianship Training. She teaches music at
Edith
Bowen Laboratory School.
Melody Francis- Cadet Choir Director
Melody is a graduate of Utah State University
and certified public school teacher. She has completed all three levels
of the Kodaly Course for Children’s Music Education and level 1
of Orff Musicianship Training.
Kathryn Hadfield- Cadet Choir Assistant director
Kathryn Hadfield has been involved in music her entire life. She played the flute
in the Sky View Band program, plays the guitar and enjoys singing. She has
a degreee in Home Economics Education from USU. She is married to Randy Hadfield
and they are the parents of 6 children and 6 grandchildren. She loves being
involved with teaching music to children and working with the great people
in Cache Children's
Choir.
Marianne Sidwell-Caprice
Choir Co-Director
Marianne is accomplished on flute, guitar
and dulcimer and she enjoys performing and composing. She has a B.A.
from
Utah State University and has done some graduate work in Kodaly Music
Education. She is also a music specialist for Utah Festival Opera’s
Education Program.
Genet Brown-Caprice Choir
Co-Director
Genet has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary
Education and a Minor in Music from Utah State University. She has completed
all three levels of the Kodaly Course for Children’s Music Education.
She enjoys playing the double bass, clarinet, piano, tin whistle, dulcimer
and banjo.
Jennifer Jensen- Cadenza
Choir Co-Director
Jennifer is a Logan Native who started her musical training early in life. She
later studied piano, voice and choral education while in college and received
her
bachelor's degree in vocal performance from USU
in 1994. She has taught voice and piano lessons for 14 years. Jennifer served
as the Caprice Liaison for CCC last year.
Katrisha Jensen- Cadenza
Choir Co-Director
Katrisha has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education
with an Early Childhood Endorsement from Utah State University
with a Minor in Music. She enjoys working with children and is
also an excellent musician. She is an experienced singer and also
plays the cello, piano, and various small wind instruments. She
enjoys performing and choir directing.
